The "Earlsdon Echo" is Talking About Our Work

IMG_9863_edited.png

I would like to thank Uma for inviting me to attend the group. I have benefitted so much from attending. I was initially very apprehensive, but was put at ease from the moment I walked in. Uma always welcomes everyone with her arms stratched out open to embrace. Being introduced to everyone, and seeing the welcoming smiles on everyones faces all helped to put me at ease. The warm and friendly atmosphere, friendly chatting and laughing was lovely. I also like that everyone listens to each other and there is empathy, opennes, support and sharing, as well as signposting to appropriate organisations.

I came across the Lotus group by default. It is a very caring, responsible group. Uma opens her home to greet the people attending, with such warmth and smiles.  This makes a huge difference to individuals for their mental well-being and sense of belonging and not being isolated. Being valued and having a puspose in life is so important to our mental health. This is all achieved by the Lotus group and more...Beverages and cake, food to share, recipes exchanged etc...

How have I benefitted since discovering this group? I have started to socialise again, and now feel a part of a family who look out for each other.

Coming to this group has helped me to share and cope with my issues. I do not feel alone, and know I can pick up the phone and speak with anyone.

About Our Foundation

"Remember one thing, you should not leave the earth until you have made it a little more beautiful, a little lovelier, a little more loving".(Osho)

Our late son, Neeraj Sharma, was a benevolent soul who was involved with many charitable concerns. He was especially interested in supporting underprivileged children and the elderly.

The definition of the name Neeraj is lotus flower, hence why we have adopted this as the symbol of the foundation and the name of the support group.

As a family we have setup the Neeraj Foundation Family Trust to further his legacy. The trustees of the Neeraj Foundation Family Trust will review the initiatives that require financial aid, and designate funding accordingly.

Lotus Support Group

Supporting the elderly community in Earlsdon, Coventry

The group has been developed and run by a retired manager of the Coventry Carers Centre, and has evolved from her drive to combat the loneliness and isolation some people experience on a daily basis; something which has been considerably worsened by the pandemic.
Surrounded by calming gardens, its aim is to offer tea and conversation, with additional health and social care professionals volunteering their time to share information on different services available to the group.
